After Motown began receiving repeated requests to release "War" as a single, Whitfield re-recorded the song with Edwin Starr as the vocalist, with the label deciding to withhold the Temptations' version from single release so as not to alienate their more conservative fans. Starr's version of "War" was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970, and is not only the most successful and well-known record of his career, but it is also one of the most popular protest songs ever recorded. This is a rarely seen video recorded in 1972, recently shown on German Channel ZDF. Mouth & MacNeal were a pop duo from Holland. They formed in 1971 when record producer Hans van Hemert brought the solo talents of Mouth (born Willem Duyn, March 31, 1937) and Maggie MacNeal (born Sjoukje van't Spijker, May 5, 1950) together. Their biggest hit, "How Do You Do", eventually reached #8 in the U.S. in July 1972. The song spent 19 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 and won a R.I.A.A. gold disc on August 2, 1972. It was also a notable part of the soundtrack of the 2011 HBO film Cinema Verite starring James Gandolfini, Diane Lane, and Tim Robbins.<br /><br />In October 2008, "Reflections of My Life" was used as the closing end titles soundtrack to an episode of the American version of the British television drama, Life on Mars. In December 2009, the song was also used at the end of the pilot of the television programme, Men of a Certain Age.<br /><br />The original recording can be found on "Fine Cuts - The Best Of Marmalade" Salvo MDCD26, 2 cd compilation, and on various earlier releases on Sanctuary Records compilations, including Marmalade: The Ultimate Collection,and Rainbow - The Decca Years.It is also available on Rhino Records', Super Hits of the '70s: Have a Nice Day, Vol. 2.<br /><br />The song's lyrics appeared frequently in the book, Flying Through Midnight By John T.
